It’s not odd for young children to start soaring at age 10 in Lithuania
Phil Gaisford and crew member Jose Otero are seen checking the gliders we rented to compete in the Club class. The handicap will be unbelievable! Actually these are the kids gliders. In Lithuania they start glider training as 10 year olds. Some kids have started as young as 7 years old. The field is quite long and they are allowed to climb to about ten feet off the ground before landing straight ahead. Next they learn to bank and are towed all around the perimeter of the field.
